Terms

Terms, without the waffle

The house rules for using Pass It Round. Written so a normal person can read them over a cup of tea.

1.What Pass It Round is

Pass It Round lets one person start a group card, share a link, and collect messages from everyone else. The card lives at a web address, works on any phone or computer with a browser, and needs no accounts. By using it you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose.

2.Free to start, paid to send

There are no plans or tiers, just one price. Every card is free to start, and collecting the first 8 messages costs nothing. Until a card is unlocked, the names of the people who signed are visible but the words and videos are held back, and the card cannot be sealed or delivered. Each signer can see the notes they wrote on their own device.

Unlocking a card costs 3.99 in the currency shown at checkout ($3.99, £3.99 or €3.99, based on where you are or the currency you pick). It is paid once. It opens up every message, removes the message limit, switches on sealing with the envelope reveal, and adds a print-friendly keepsake. One payment covers that one card for good. There is no subscription, nothing renews, and we will never quietly charge you again.

Adding a video to your own note costs 0.99 in the same currency ($0.99, £0.99 or €0.99), paid by the person adding it. A paid video is stored with the card and revealed with everything else when the card is unlocked. If a card is never unlocked, the video stays stored but unseen, and the small fee is not refunded because the storage and processing have already happened.

Sales tax is added at checkout where it applies. Anyone with the signing link can pay to unlock a card, not just the organizer.

3.Refunds

If something went wrong with your card and we could not put it right, we will refund you. Email hello@passitround.com with the card link and a line about what happened. Because the unlock is delivered instantly and cannot be handed back, we do not usually refund a card that has been unlocked and used as intended, but if you have a genuine problem, talk to us. We are reasonable people.

5.Being decent on the wall

Messages are written by the people you invite, not by us. Organizers can remove anything from their card at any time, and we would rather you did that than let a bad joke sit there.

Do not use Pass It Round to harass, threaten or bully anyone, to post anything unlawful, or to share someone's private information. We can remove messages or entire cards that break this rule, without notice, and we may block repeat offenders. If you see something that should not be there and you are not the organizer, email us the link.

6.Who owns what

You and the people who sign keep ownership of what you write. You give us permission to store it, show it to people with the link, and lay it out for printing, which is the whole point. We do not use card content for advertising, training or anything beyond running the service.

The Pass It Round name, design and code are ours. Please do not copy the site wholesale or pretend to be us.

7.Keeping the lights on

We work hard to keep Pass It Round available, but we are a small service and cannot promise it will never have a wobble. If we ever needed to close cards down we would give plenty of notice and a way to save everything first.

We may improve, change or add features over time. If a change would take something away from a card you have already paid for, we will let you know beforehand.

8.The bit about liability

We provide the service as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that come from things outside our control, from content written by other people, or from a link being shared more widely than you intended. Nothing here limits any rights you have as a consumer under applicable US state or federal law, or any liability we cannot legally exclude.

If we are found liable to you for anything connected with a card, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for that card, which is at most 3.99 in the currency you paid in.

9.Privacy

How we handle your information is covered on our privacy page. It is written in plain English too.

10.Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law rules. You keep any consumer protections your home state gives you. If something goes wrong we would much rather sort it out with an email than anywhere else, so please start there.

11.Changes and contact

We may update these terms now and then. The date at the top tells you when we last did. Questions go to hello@passitround.com, and the help page covers most of the everyday ones.
